This collection is designed for modern city scenes, office buildings, commercial facilities, hotel interiors, simulation games, cinematic sound design, and everyday urban ambience.

Designing an Elevator Sequence

Break the action into clear stages so the audience understands where the elevator is in the process. Button presses begin the interaction, arrival chimes announce the car, doors open and close around entry, and movement ambience should continue only while the elevator is visibly traveling between floors.

Place each sound on the exact frame the interface or mechanism changes state. A call button should sound when it lights, the arrival chime should occur before the doors open, and the door close should finish before the movement layer begins. At the destination, stop the travel ambience before the next chime and opening sequence.

Distance and building type affect the result. Hotel elevators can feel clean and restrained, office towers may use brighter interface cues, and industrial lifts can include heavier doors and mechanical vibration. When the elevator is heard from a hallway or another room, reduce brightness and volume so the source feels separated by walls.

  • Use short button and confirmation sounds for calls, floor selection, and controls.
  • Use arrival chimes before door movement so the sequence remains easy to follow.
  • Keep movement ambience active only while the elevator is traveling between floors.
